This is my life on the Denver Glacier just outside of Skagway, Alaska. I am a handler at this dog camp. I have been around dogs my whole life, and have been running sled dogs for about 10 years. I will try to write when I am in town, but that is only day a week. Hope you enjoy my blogs. Later..........

Hello All, I am in town again for a short 24 hour time off. Today was really hot up on the glacier. Today we were half staffed. So Joel was the manager and he as had to do tours, which he is not supposed to. I also had to sling. Which is where the helicopter comes in with a 100ft cable below then and we attach a rack to it and they take it to town. A rack it 3 55gal drums strapped together, our shit barrels. Noah handled for Joel for most of the day cuz I was doing other things. Rende, Jake, Cori, Nate, Therease, Pete, and I all went to the fish co for dinner. We are getting busier. It is nice. Yesterday it was raining. It sucked. Our new raincoats are nice. I am still trying to get pictures up here. But having some troubles with it. Not going to do much this weekend since I do not have much time. I did laundry and took a shower already. So I am going to relax hopefully. We have two guys in one of our trailer on their way to Juno to work for AIE there. One of them is here now along with Rende’s friend from back home that just so happened to get a job here. Our cook has been off so I have been cooking. Its kind of fun. Cuz I get out of doing certain chores. Will that about all for today. Later all!!!

Was our musher. Really enjoyed chatting with him. Sorry to bother you. Have some photos thought he might like them. Do you have an email for him? Living on a glacier is hard I must imagine. Not even going to pretend I know what it's like.

Was so good to hear from you last night. I hope you had a good supper. So much fun to think of you thousands of miles away, walking into town with your friends to get a fastfood meal(for $20!)Anyway, everyone knows that it is more expensive up there. Guess you are realizeing that in person. There is that part about getting to eat a hamburger and fries in Skagway, AK. Not many people can say they did that. I found your FF#! Yeah! So will get started on that immediately.Thinking of you running around up there with your friends in the midnight sun, makes me smile. I love you Rache! mom

Well, Rachel, I just wrote you that your Mom said that her server told her that her comment (on your blog) did not go thru. Yet, I check it this AM & it did. Think I will give her a call & let her know that it did in case she does not turn her computer on for several days again. She just does not like to be "tied" to the computer & I check mine several times a day-if I am down here. Will be sending you, another box, "maybe next week", but let me know if there is anything else "special" that you would like to see in it.
Love You Rachie. You make my heart happy!!!!!!!! Grandma

Have finally decided to open up my lap top. It was so nice not to have to look at a computer for 2 whole weeks. But I have a paper due on Spirituality of the BWCAW, so time to hit the books. I love your blog. I have no idea of what it is or how you do it, but no matter. I get to hear all about your day (when you get to town to write) and that just makes my day. It is great to get to hear all about what you are doing. I know to you it is just everyday work, but I would have no idea of what daily work consists of on a glacier. LOVE YOU Rache!!! mom

Hi Rach: Irene here. Sounds like you are keeping busy there. You said it got hot. What is the temp? Were to Scandian Grove and to Dinny's/Louis afterwards. It is only 48 degrees here now on May 27 at 4:30 p.m. Was 88 at Kenny's on Sunday.
